Summer afternoons have not changed much over the past 100 years; they are still most fondly recalled for their warm air, cool breezes … and baseball. Offered is an elaborate and ornamental 1902 baseball medallion presented to James Downey by the Toronto Baseball Club. This incredible 1 ¼” piece, with its elegant design and gold composition, clearly required time, devotion and care to construct. Intended to be displayed with pride on a suitcoat lapel, the dangling pendant is fastened to a silk ribbon. The centerpiece of the ornate charm incorporates a pair of deadball era baseball bats with a ball poised in the middle, adorned with a laurel leaf. The original box accompanies the fantastic 14-karat gold pendant from the James Bailey Jeweler and Medalist in Toronto. A wonderful reminder of one team’s greatness all those years ago.
